As brother and sister, Jason and Jennifer’s bond was tight. Even though they were 11 years apart, they were still as close as who were just years apart. When Jennifer, the oldest, gets involved in a physically abusive relationship, Jason steps in and even at his young age, he makes a fateful decision. He takes a pistol that was given to him by Allen, a member of the Vice-Lord gang and one of Jennifer’s friends, and kills her boyfriend in the midst of his abuse. Even though he had good intentions, it sets off a chain of events that would cause Jennifer and her friend Allen to leave the city in fear of their lives.
Jason ends up being trialed as an adult, and he is sentenced to jail for manslaughter, and as time passes, Jennifer aunt is killed, and she was nearly murdered herself. Because of that, Jennifer and Allen are forced to leave the city to save their lives. During that process, they lose contact with each other because of circumstances they couldn’t control, and the budding romance that had begun between them came to a sudden halt.
Now, seven years later when Jason was released from Prison, he is 18, but now, he has a completely different mentality. He is glued to living a crime filled life because of being institutionalized and Jennifer spends her time trying to keep him out of trouble and at the same time, holding onto hope that she will one day be reunited with Allen. In a story that contains twists, turns and unexpected events, the lives of this trio will have you on a rollercoaster ride and keep you wondering if they all will ever connect again.
This is an 80,000 word book stand-alone book. This book does not end in a cliffhanger. This book is only suitable for ages 18+. This book also contains a bonus chapter that you will receive if you sign up for Tamicka Higgins' Insiders Club. However, it is not required to finish the story.

I give it 3 stars because I was duped into getting the extended ending thinking it would settle my need to know what happen with Allen and Jennifer and somewhat Jason well its not what I expected 1 that was a little selfish cliffhanger and I feel like it was to get me to subscribe to her book club... thumbs down worst cliffhanger ever... okay now for the review the book had its moments of excitement then it had its dragged on moments for a standalone it was good because I don't think I would've read a part 2.Product details

When I say I absolutely loved my brothers keepe..... I loved everything about it from the relationship Allen and Jennifer had to the love Jason and Jennifer had for each othe.. She was her brothers keeper and Jason was definitely his sisters keeper I give this book a 10 straight across the boar.... I received an Advanced Free copy of the book in exchange for an Honest and Unbiased Review. The book was different from others of hers I've read. It was kinda hard for Me to get into the storyline at first. But after reading the book i enjoyed it. I was sorry Jennifer's choice not to leave caused death and imprisonment to some family members. But in the End they were able to move on. I hope there'll a Part 2 about Jennifer, Allen and Jason's new life in South Carolina. Thanks, Keep the great books coming. Carolyn Robinson.
I received an advanced copy for an honest review. What really pulled me in was the first chapter. I was afraid for Jennifer and the fear she felt. I knew then that I would be hooked and couldn't wait to continue reading. Jennifer is a little complicated in her mind set to me, but I could relate to her story. Honestly, I think this is one of Tamicka's best projects. Its so true to life and that's why I love reading Tamicka's books. You won't be disappointed.
I received this book for free in exchange for a honest and unbiased upon. This was a quick read but the events in the book occurs reply slow. To be honest when I first started reading it I was not interested at all I kept putting it down and the picking it back up. When I finally got into the book was after Jason was sent to jail for mudering Ron for his sister Jennifer. I felt like Jennifer was just young and dumb jumping from man to man. How could she end up in similar situations time and time again being used by men. When she finally did open her eyes I was very surprised that she actually stood by her brother side through everything. She even was willing to comitte a crime for her brother. All and all I would say it's worth the read and I would love for it to be a second part to see if trouble follows Jennifer who was faced with many obstacles from losing her aunt to Jason and Allen going to jail. I feel like it's still some questions that I would like to be answered.
Very good book I like the way she writes have read several of her books.
I liked the book. I loved how the brother and sister were so close. The book ended perfectly fine with the exception of knowing what happened to Paris
My Brother's Keeper started off a decent read, Even with Jason" s trouble it was still ok but did drag. What to Allen and gang was not realistic for me. Continued to read Jennifer in Pa.Jennifer and Robert was a strange pair. What planet does Jennifer live on.Jason out 1 day and thats when I decided enough.This story was not exciting to keep you turning pages I enjoy Ms. Higgins writings but this was not for me.
