Fate Abandoned (Book 1 of the Fate Abandoned Series) eBook L. Danvers Reviews

Loved it! Action packed with a touch of young love. Nicely wrapped up. And then you get to the last sentence... Can't wait for the next one!
I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
The role of a princess was too confining for the young princess. She had non-traditional skills that were needed to meet an unexpected quest. If she went on the quest what would be the price for doing so? If she took the quest but failed, what would be the penalty? Enjoyed this book very much. It will be one I will read again.
I received a copy of this book/story in exchange for a review. The writing was good, and the story steadily progressed; but there were a few details or possible mis-directs I still don't understand along with a number of circumstances/situations I thought could have been "fleshed-out" a little more to be more informative and a smoother reading experience --- possibly corrected/clarified in the next book in the series (which I pre-purchased to make sure I get to read). I will admit there were a few "twists" in the story I saw coming; ... but also a number that caught me unaware which always adds to my reading pleasure when it happens. A good book for a weekend read for either teens or adults; and possibly the groundwork for what could become an excellent series ...
I received a free copy of this book and I gladly give a voluntary honest review.
The title is misleading it barely hints at finding one’s true fate, rather than what one expects. Daphne, the twin princess, is a pawn in her father’s court, barely noticed beyond her brother’s traditional quest and rise to the throne in his time. But Daphne is a sharp young lady, encouraged by her mother to blossom outside the usual restrictions. Her wits, her loyalty to her brother, and her feminine instinct lead her to follow a witch’s warning about her brother’s safety lead her to follow her brother. She gains companions on the way, who change her as much as the adventures they share. Then her true fate pulls her from the role she once thought was her only option.
This author has drawn complex, fascinating characters in a memorable tale. Thank you, Ms. Danvers, for a lovely story! I will be sharing it.
When her twin brother Prince Phillip is sent on a quest, Princess Daphne, having reason to believe that he could be in danger, takes it upon herself to ride to his rescue. She would have preferred that he not go at all, but the quest is tradition upon a prince's 18th birthday. Unfortunately for Daphne, betrothal is traditional for a princess at that time, and she has only until her brother returns to make her choice. Which gives her another reason to run away to rescue her brother.
Daphne is strong willed and not unintelligent, she is even able to handle a sword, but she has never been far from home. So, when she and her companion fall in with a group of outlaws, it seems only logical to hire some help. And, considering that nearly everything in the outside world seems to want to eat her, she's going to need all the help she can get. And, hey, so what if the leader of the outlaws is cute?
This is a fun adventure story, and action-packed, but the characters sometimes aren't all that well developed and certain elements just don't quite make sense. Mainly the outlaws. Near as I could tell, there are some good ones in the camp, and then some bad ones. Have no idea how the leader (one of the decent ones) became the leader and why the ones that don't seem so nice are part of the group. It seems like the author was going for a Robin Hood sort of thing, and I can understand why they're not too fond of the king, but being an outlaw is more than just running away from home to rob the rich and give to the poor (and it's not clear if they were even doing that). Some law breaking is required, otherwise you're just a group of guys living in the woods.
Anyway, a fun, light story. Nothing too deep, and maybe don't think too hard about certain elements of it. The editing is good, and the romance is clean. This book is good for all ages, but would probably appeal most to tweens or younger teenagers. One word of caution for the younger reader our introduction to the outlaws that accompany Daphne includes some heavy drinking on their part.
As for the ending, I guess it could be called a cliff-hanger; it definitely sets up for the next book. This story can stand alone, however.
Great book! Adventures throughout the whole book. Good character development. You'll be rooting for the Princess and her love. I cant wait tor the 2nd book! Hurry up!
Fate Abandoned is a fun story suitable for teens and adults. This is a quick read filled with beautiful descriptions, and it has the perfect balance of adventure and romance. I enjoyed seeing how the relationship between Daphne and Gregory progressed. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Cute story, easy enjoyable read. Would be really good for my grandkids as it seems to be written for a young audience, maybe preteen. Happy Reading!!!!
